The modern sport of fencing
has a long and storied tradition dating
back to eighteenth-century European dueling and cavalry fighting.
Fencing is
one of only four sports to be featured in every modern Olympic Games,
and it is one of five sports that make up the modern Pentathlon.
Fencing has
been called “a game of chess of the toes” — a challenging
mix of physical and tactical training that is equally suitable for
men and women, boys and girls of all ages. Today, the sport is growing
in popularity
in the United States under the guidance of the U.S.
Fencing Association and locally in the New
England Division.

We wish to acknowledge the successes of club members who have ranked high
in major tournaments. Congratulations to competitors in the Junior Olympic Qualifiers 20 and under held at Boston Fencing Club. Luke Politi (1st), Alex House and Mitchell Culler (tied for 3rd) and Farzaan Karimi (4th) all qualified for Nationals! Kudos also go to Rachel Clark for placing 11th. Luke Politi placed 2nd in the Cadet NAC in Kansas City. Alex House also played 19th in the Cadet World Cup in Paris.
